Q: Who is Nike Nando and what “Super” powers does he have?
A: Nike Nando is a hip-hop artist from Maryland. My super power is me being lyrically gifted.
Q: When and why did you start making music?
A: I’ve been recording music since I was 15 but I’ve been writing & performing since 4th grade. So I’d say since 10 years old I’ve been in love with music as well as the creation process that comes with it.
Q: How would you describe your sound? How do you think the DMV area has influenced this sound?
A: The best way to describe my sound is to call it honest, witty, entertaining & whimsical. The DMV hasn’t really influenced my sound either to be totally honest. The only person I can really say that inspires me from here is Wale.
Q: Go through your process of finding the right beats for a project.
A: To be honest, I just have an ear for anything that I feel sounds good with my voice. I’ve learned from the greats like Jay-Z, Dilla, Ye & Q-Tip how to pick and choose beats because If I were to become the next star I’d want them to say, “This dudes beats and lyrics are sick.” Lol.
Q: What is your biggest weakness as a musician?
A: The fact that I can be too much of a perfectionist. I can take (sometimes) up to 3 months to finish a song because I want it to be really good.
Q: What are you currently working on?
A: Right now I’m working on my next album that I’m trying to release 4th quarter of 2013.
Q: We know you love Wale so besides him, if you could work with any artist, who would it be?
A: I don’t know if I would use the word LOVE. I’m just a fan of music and I appreciate the fact that he’s from this area and he’s international some-what. I’ve followed Wale’s entire career and I’m proud of his accomplishments. But if I could work with any other artist it would be Q-Tip, hands down.
Q: What audience are you trying to reach with your music? How important is Twitter in reaching your audience?
A: I just want to reach anyone who’s going through a lot in life and are almost at the point of giving up. I’ve been there before and even go there sometimes when certain situations come up in my life. I want to teach anyone who listens to my music that you can go through the worst and still come out on top and be the best person you can be.
Q: If you weren’t pursuing music, what would you be doing now?
A: Honestly, I can’t see myself doing anything else besides music. I mean, I’m good at a few things but I’m not as passionate about anything else besides music.
Time to Get Random
Q: Carmelo or Lebron
Q: J’s or Wingtips
A: Both. lol.
Q: Lauren London or Cassie
A: Shit…good question. But Cassie. I don’t want Tunchi baby moms. I got too much respect for him. Lol.
Q: Good Burger or Mondo Burger
A: Good Burger
Q: Stretch your right arm out as far as you can, What can you touch?
A: My book of rhymes and headphones.
Q: What’s your dream car?
A: 1988 Mustang 5.0
Q: What’s the last song you listened to by choice?
A: Shawn Chrystopher – Minding My Business
Q: Drizzy or Breezy?
A: I’d go with Drizzy. No shade to Chris Brown tho.
Q: What is one of the things you would put on your “bucket” list? Why?
A: Visit my moms grave site. I’ve never quite gotten the opportunity to go. I didn’t even get to go to the funeral. Other than that get my family out of the hood. Some realistic shit honestly.
Q: What is one thing that annoys you the most?
A: People sleeping on quality music.
Q: What is the worst job you have ever had?
A: Bob Evans…that shit sucked.
Q: How do you feel about David Hasselhoff?
A: Last I remember I saw him in the Spongebob movie. He’s like a megastar overseas or something. I got love for Hasselhoff. Lol.
S/O to my management, my family and friends and to you for taking the time to read this. Peace.
